Thanks for tuning into our second episode of Easily Baked with Ardent last week! If you missed the April episode, Easily Baked with Ardent is our new, monthly cooking show that teaches beginner-level, infused recipes with the aid of Ardent technology, right on Instagram Live. In our second live event, we discussed infusing coconut oil to make THC Nerds Ropes (and bites) along with cannabis-infused Starbursts. In case you missed it, celebrate 4/20 all year long with these easy, hackable candies that can be activated to perfection with Ardent.
How to get started
Decarboxylate your cannabis plant material in the Ardent Nova or FX, by running a cycle on the single-button interface, or starting a cycle by using the A1 setting for THC-rich material and A2 setting for CBD-rich material. Infuse your coconut oil into the Nova or FX using the silicone Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve or the Ardent Vessel. Strain out the spent material and toss it out or store for later use. If using the FX, attach the Infusion Press to the unit (without the Sleeve or Vessel) to separate the raffinate from the infused oil, or use a coffee filter, cheesecloth, or the Ardent Frainer.
A note on dosing: check your flower, kief, or concentrate’s label to identify the percentage of THCa in the product you’re activating. In the Nova or FX, which both provide anywhere between 97-100% activation, one gram of starting material at 23% THCa should yield about 200 mgs of edible THC. After removal of the acid molecule, which weighs 13% of your starting material, you’ll multiply the starting percentage by .87% to identify the dose in your finished product. Just move the decimal point one space to the right.

Cannabis-infused brownies top the list as the world’s most famous cannabis edible, and in some cases, they’re considered infamous! The combination of gooey chocolate and high concentrations of THC make pot brownies one of the tastiest cannabis treats.
These days you can find weed brownies at nearly any dispensary but batches can range from brand to brand, state to state, and dispensary to dispensary. Plus, cannabis brownies will always be a homemade classic, so not only is it more accurate and trustworthy to make them at home, it’s more fun as well!
Outside of those points, it’s actually cheaper than commercial brands to make cannabis-infused brownies at home yourself. If you’re ready to make your own gourmet elevated brownies, check out this simple recipe we’re excited to share with you. We’ll also talk about a few different ways you can make these cannabis-infused brownies in case you have any specific dietary or space restrictions.
Oven, toaster or some kind of decarboxylation device
Pot Brownie Recipe
Difficulty level: Easy
Prep time: 25 minutes
Cook time: 1 hour
Total time: 1 hour 25 minutes
Required Ingredients
1/2 Cup Cannabutter
2 Large Eggs
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour
1/3 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Powder
Before Baking Your Brownies, Decarb Your Cannabis
To decarb in the Ardent Nova, simply place your material inside the device, put the lid back on top, and press the single-button interface. In the FX, place your material inside the device, place the top on, and use the A1 setting for THC or CBG-rich material, and A2 setting for CBD-rich material. After your cannabis is decarboxylated, you will need to infuse your decarbed herb into butter, infusion boost some older cannabutter, or infuse some coconut oil, if you’d prefer that. Once infused, follow the instructions below to make a yummy batch of classically infused treats.
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Use cooking spray to grease the baking pan.
Melt 1/2 cup of cannabis butter in a saucepan on low heat.
Remove from heat, and add eggs, 1 cup of sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract into the cannabutter. Stir well.
Add 1/3 cup of cocoa, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder to the mixture and mix thoroughly.
Spread batter into baking pan.
Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove promptly and cool for 5-10 minutes before enjoying.
Benefits of Weed-Infused Brownies
Eating weed brownies offers a smoke-free alternative to medicating.
Consuming cannabis produces stronger effects on our endocannabinoid system than smoking, thus longer lasting effects.
Appearing as a moist chocolatey treat, pot brownies allow for discreet medication anywhere.
Aside from the flavor factor, there are a number of benefits to consuming pot brownies:

It’s already April, and you know what that means for Ardent: a whole month of 4/20 fun! In between the giveaways, live demos, recipes, and games, what will you be doing to celebrate this year? We’ve gone ahead and lined up the ultimate socially distanced 4/20 experience for you – are you brave enough to tackle it? If you’re up for the challenge, keep reading, and follow our itinerary!
7 a.m. Morning workout with decarbed bud bong hits.
Boost your runner’s high! Whether you’re going for a bike ride, laying out the yoga mat and stretching indoors, or taking a stroll outside, add some fresh and decarbed bud bong hits in between. As your body naturally produces “bliss molecule” cannabinoids from working out, you’ll match the feeling with the maximum potential of your herb. Morning euphoria at its finest.
9 a.m. Breakfast Wake & Bake
After a rigorous workout, a filling breakfast is in order. Our new Breakfast Cloud Cakes paired with the FX Double Lifter make getting elevated a simple, mess-free process: no kitchen required. Get your muffins baking in the FX unit while you whip up some coffee, eggs, and bacon. Whatever floats your boat. A long day of consumption requires a filling breakfast!
11 a.m. Toss some CBD flower in the Ardent Nova or FX.
Trust us, this will come in handy later in the day when you want a bit of a come-down! Once your CBD is fully activated (using the A2 setting on the FX,) pour some MCT oil into the FX over the flower (using the Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve or Vessel for easy clean-up) and covering the flower entirely. Begin the Infusion cycle. Once the cycle is complete, strain out your infused oil, separating out the spent material or “raffinate” using the Infusion Press, Frainer, or a coffee filter, cheesecloth, or the strainer of your choice.
12 p.m. Smoke a joint.
Again, you’ll get the most bang for your buck by smoking decarboxylated herb. When you light a joint, the heat from the flame funnels hot air through the joint and into your body. During this heat process, some cannabinoids are activated, and others are burned off from the intensity of the flame. By smoking decarbed bud, you’re always starting with the most activated version of your herb. For flavor’s sake, spliff your dried flower with some decarbed herb, smoke, and enjoy.
1 p.m. TV Break
What’s your favorite cannabis-themed movie or show? One of our favorites is Netflix’s Cooked with Cannabis, featuring dozens of talented cannabis chefs facing off against one another. We’re so excited for the premiere of 4/20 Chopped on Discovery Plus, featuring chefs in cannabis that we know and love! Other favorites include HBO’s High Maintenance, which explores the nuances of a previously unregulated NYC market, Netflix’s Disjointed, which pokes fun at the legal market from a dispensary owner’s POV, and High Herstory, which begins streaming through Social Club TV on 4/20, and tells the tales of trailblazing women in history while the hosts normalize cannabis consumption.
2 p.m. Infused Lunch
Time for lunch! Still baked from breakfast? Ordering in is a safe way to get your food without getting behind the wheel. Plus, you can also infuse your takeout instantly by sprinkling decarboxylated cannabis over top. Mask the flavor and increase bioavailability by slathering your food in homemade cannabutter or cannaoil. If you decide to cook lunch instead, feel free to replace the oil or butter in your recipe with their infused counterpart to elevate your experience.
3 p.m. A few drops of CBD oil under the tongue.
Slow down, partner. Now’s a good time for that CBD oil break. Add a dropper full of CBD oil (use your judgement here based on your preferred dose,) under your tongue. Hold the oil under the tongue for 15-30 seconds before swallowing. The cannabinoids will be absorbed through the mucous membranes in your mouth, and anything that wasn’t absorbed under the tongue, will be absorbed through the ingestion route after swallowing. There’s about a 10 minute onset time for sublingual absorption, and a slower release (up to 2 hours) through oral ingestion.
4 p.m. Water break & sesh prep.
Fill up your water bottle. Get your dab mat, tool, and rig prepared. Take your concentrates out of the fridge. Roll up your last minute joints and blunts. Pack your bowls and bongs. Bring out the gummies.
4:20 p.m. It’s 4:20 on 4/20, let’s turn up!
Sesh like you’ve never seshed before. FaceTime your friends and family who celebrate so you can sesh with them safely. Really set the mood with our epic 4/20 playlist!
5 p.m. Smoke a blunt.
If you’ve been stuck at your desk all day, the work day is officially over! Celebrate with a fatty.
6 p.m. Infused Dinner
Another infused meal, why not? Go the easy route and make some spaghetti with jarred sauce, using infused olive oil or butter to kick it up a notch. If you’re vegan, some infused guacamole or hummus might do the trick. Try any of our delicious infused recipes for your 4/20 dinner. Plus, finish off your infused dinner with some infused dessert. Our Stoner Snack Pack includes classic stoner treats: Brownies, Berry High Rice Crispy Treats, and upgraded Firecrackers. All you need to add is decarbed bud and water. No kitchen or grocery trips required.
7:10 p.m. DABS!
In honor of the only other official holiday of the year, celebrate at 7:10 with the oil of your choice: an edible infusion, a tincture, a vape cartridge, or some good, clean dabs.
8 p.m. Shower
Have you ever taken a high shower? It’s amazing. You’re going to love it. If you’re more of a bath person, try out our guide to infused bath bombs. You deserve the chance to fizzle your worries away.
9 p.m. Massage with CBD Cream & Do a CBD-Infused Face Mask
The best way to moisturize after a bath or shower is with the help of CBD! Use CBD-infused topical salve, lotion, or oil on your body, starting with your temples, working your way down your neck and shoulders. Carefully massage your hands, fingers, and arms, work your way down from the torso and through to the legs and toes. Repeat as needed. Make a CBD-infused face mask, let it dry, and rinse off with cool water.
10 p.m. Time for bed.
Let yourself pass out. After all, this 4/20 does land on a Tuesday! Drink some water before bed, fluff your pillows, and get ready for a great night’s sleep.

If you’ve ever been on a dating app or have looked for a roommate, you’ve probably seen people say “4/20 friendly,” which loosely translates to “I welcome you to smoke weed in my presence or in our shared home.”
420 has become synonymous with cannabis consumption, but how did we get here? What does 420 mean exactly? We’re exploring the roots and origin of 420 so you can figure out exactly what it means for cannabis culture.
How 4/20 Began
In the early 70s, a group of San Rafael-based high school kids who called themselves “The Waldos,” smoked weed every day at 4:20 pm, right after their sports practice, and began the hunt for an abandoned cannabis plant they heard was growing on nearby land.
From San Rafael to The Grateful Dead Crew
Eventually, the group began using the term “420” to disguise their intention for cannabis consumption in school and at home. It was much more discreet than saying “wanna take a smoke break?”
When they started using the term backstage at Grateful Dead shows, the term picked up and started being used by folks within the community as well.
From The Grateful Dead to High Times to The World
When beloved cannabis journalist Steve Bloom went to an Oakland Dead show in the early 90s, he was passed a flyer with a cryptic message that said “We are going to meet at 4:20 on 4/20 for 420-ing in Marin County at the Bolinas Ridge sunset spot on Mt.Tamalpais.”
Once High Times got a hold of the term, 420 became a global phenomenon, and it clearly hasn’t slowed down since the 90s.
Pop Culture Nods to 420
Can you recognize any movies where 420 particularly stood out to you? If you take a look at the clocks in Pulp Fiction and Lost in Translation, they’re fixed on this magic hour. You can also find a 420 nod in Mad Men, during Don Draper’s big pitch meeting with American Airlines that landed on April 20th. Guess what? The following scene is a cannabis scene. In the 80s movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Sean Penn plays a pothead and athlete. In one scene, the high school he attends hosts a football game, which results in a win. The final score? 42-0.
California Legally Recognizes 420
In 2003, an amendment to Proposition 215 was passed, giving details on home grow and possession regulations. The Medical Marijuana Program Act was called SB420, or Senate Bill 420. Who exactly was responsible for giving it such a fitting name? This remains a mystery.
How to Celebrate 4/20
The global impact of the term 420 sees no bounds. 4/20 is celebrated at Universities throughout the world, with programming on TV networks, through dinner parties, dance parties, concerts, and more. How you celebrate 4/20 is entirely up to you, your tolerance, and your comfort level. Plan the day around consumption, and prepare with plenty of water, naps, snacks, chargers, and comfortable attire. For a suggested itinerary, check out our blog on The Ultimate 4/20.
It’s always 4:20 somewhere! Cheers to our favorite celebration, activity, and high holy holiday. Keep the celebration going all month long, and follow us on Instagram for a full month of giveaways, competitions, product launches, live programming, and games.
Easter Sunday is here once again! The adult version of an Easter egg hunt or dyed, hard-boiled eggs is probably making and eating these infused Easter nest cupcakes. These festive treats can be made directly inside the FX, with no oven required, and two at a time using the FX Double Lifter.
How to Get Started
Decarboxylate your plant material in the Ardent Nova or FX by running a full cycle in the Nova, or by using the A1 setting on the FX for THC-rich bud, and the A2 setting for CBD-rich herb. Add the activated plant material and some vegetable oil inside the Nova or FX using the silicone Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve, specific to whichever device you own, or the Ardent Vessel. This recipe calls for 6 1/2 tablespoons of oil, so adjust your infusion accordingly.
Strain out the used material, if you used flower, and toss it in the garbage or store for future use. If using the FX, attach the Infusion Press to the unit (without the Sleeve or Vessel) to separate the raffinate from the infused oil. You can use a coffee filter, cheesecloth, or strainer if you wish. If you used kief or concentrate in your infusion, simply stir.
Alternatively, or in addition to your infused oil, you can also prepare some cannasugar at least 12 hours prior for use in this recipe.
A note on dosing: check your flower or concentrate’s label to identify the percentage of THCa in the product you’re working with. In the Nova or FX, which provide 97-100% activation, one gram of starting material at 23% THCa should yield about 200 mgs of usable THC. After removal of the acid molecule during decarb, which weighs 13% of your starting material, you’ll multiply the starting percentage by .87% to identify the dose in your finished product. Just move the decimal point one space to the right to determine the final dose.
This recipe also makes more batter than you’ll need for just one cycle in the FX. You can either pour the rest of the batter in a cupcake tray, and place it in the oven on 350 degrees F for 20 minutes, or third the recipe to make just enough to fit inside your unit.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, and/or preheat the FX on the bake setting.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together cannasugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Stir in the egg and vegetable oil (which can be infused if desired.) Mix well.
Add vanilla extract. Mix.
Mix in oat milk, followed by carrots, walnuts, and raisins. Stir.
Scoop batter into two cupcake liners and place on the Double Lifter and inside the FX. Allow it to bake for the entire cycle. Scoop the rest of the batter into a cupcake tray and bake for 20 minutes.
In a mixer, combine the softened butter and cream cheese. Whisk in vanilla extract and powdered sugar, followed by the green food coloring.
Remove the cupcakes from the oven and/or FX. Allow them to cool.
Add your frosting to the piping bag and add “grass” to your cupcakes with the frosting. Place a Peep in the center of each cupcake, with Whopper eggs around the sides.

Bhang Infused Ghee & Saag
Happy Holi! Holi is the Hindu festival of colors. It’s a holiday honoring the end of winter and the arrival of spring. The South Asian diaspora across Fiji, the South Pacific, Caribbean, and Africa, refer to the holiday as Phagwa describing the Phalgunaor 12th month of the Hindu calendar. This tradition was brought overseas in the 1830’s when Indian farmers were sold as indentured slave labor by Britain. Fun fact: this is also how bhang or cannabis migrated to places like Jamaica and Trinidad.
In South Asia, Holi is always celebrated with bhang. Bhang is consumed for medicinal and spiritual wealth; a tradition dating back thousands of years to the origins of Hinduism. Holi is a day when consuming cannabis is socially acceptable. While my family didn’t grow up with the tradition of bhang because of Britain’s discriminatory laws against cannabis in Fiji, we’ve built a lot of new traditions in America.
One of these traditions is our bhang saag. Saag is the Hindi word to describe leafy vegetables. Growing up, my dad would make huge pots of saag with a variety of greens he grew in our backyard. Mustard greens, amaranth greens, fenugreek, swiss chard, kale, all of it!
Saag is a staple South Asian dish that originated in Punjab: a state in North India that’s currently leading the farmer’s revolution in South Asia. Without the hard work of these farmers, we wouldn’t be able to celebrate the bright colors of Spring. My bhang saag is a tribute to the legacy of farmers across the world who fought and are still fighting to preserve our sacred land.
This recipe uses bhang-infused ghee to medicate our saag. The magic is in slowly adding ghee or clarified butter before turning off the heat so that the ghee browns and the greens kinda drown in the caramelized butter. Our recipe calls for bhang-infused ghee and vegetable oil (so you don’t get too high), but feel free to adjust to your preferred strength.
Place your cannabis flower into the Ardent FX. Ardent has precision decarb technology, so grinding your weed is optional! Select A1 to activate the THC or CBG in your flower, or A2 to activate CBD, and press the power button. A red light means your machine is working and the light will turn green when ready.
Add clarified butter to your decarboxylated cannabis. Return to the Ardent FX and press the M button until the Infuse button turns green. Press the power button to begin. The light will turn green when ready.
Strain out the flower and discard, or blend it with ¼ cup of water for bhang paste that you can add to your smoothies, lattes, and salad dressings! (Yes, you can eat your weed. If you’re feeling brave, you can add it to your bhang saag, too!) Bhang apetit!
To make Bhang Saag you’ll need:
A blender, stick blender, or handheld potato masher (this is what makes the greens “creamy”)
Ardent Nova or FX (or just infused ghee made using another method)
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
16-20 ounces any mixed greens, finely chopped (mustard, kale, swiss chard, spinach work well)
½ onion, diced
1 inch piece of ginger, grated
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tomato, diced
1 tsp ground cumin
1 cinnamon stick
¼ cup bhang infused ghee
Salt and chili powder to taste
Directions:
In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil under medium-high heat. Once hot, saute the onions, garlic, and ginger until golden brown.
Add the tomatoes, cumin, and cinnamon stick; saute until soft.
Add the greens and top with the lid. Lower the heat to medium.
Check on your greens every 5 minutes and give them a little stir. They will slowly start to wilt, water, and turn dark green. Keep cooking them until all the water evaporates (about 15-20 minutes!)
If you’re using a stick blender or a blender, turn the stove off and blend your greens until smooth and transfer back to pot. If you’re using a handheld potato masher, turn your stove to low heat and smash the greens while adding a teaspoon of water at a time to prevent burning.
Turn the stove on to medium-high heat and add ¼ cup of your bhang-infused ghee. Let the ghee bubble and brown for a minute or two, then turn the stove off. Your bhang saag is ready to eat with hot basmati rice, makki roti (corn tortillas), or naan.

To kick off springtime, we tapped into the growing community and spoke with Emily Gogol, PhD, Founder & CEO of Infinite Tree (a nationally recognized hemp nursery).
Emily’s newly launched company, Grow It From Home, brings CBD hemp plants to folks across the U.S. She is passionate about gardening and empowering those to learn more about the plant and how it can be used. Additionally, Emily has won numerous awards for her work in California, creating public gardens and parks.
Read more to find out what it’s like to run a hemp farm, how growing hemp at home is similar to growing tomatoes or basil, and beyond!
Tell us about yourself. What’s your story?
Like, how I went from getting a PhD at UCSF to creating public parks, to now running a hemp farm? It’s a curvy road for sure!
I’ve always loved to garden, ever since I was a kid pulling the mint out from underneath the rose bushes in my Mom’s backyard. When I moved to San Francisco to do my PhD, I noticed there was this huge vacant lot by my apartment that was being ‘guerilla gardened’ a.k.a. people were trespassing to illegally grow a garden. I connected with the woman who was gardening, and fast forward a decade, and as a volunteer, I was now running two parks (we built another nearby), a large volunteer network, managing grants and educational outreach programs. I was also elected by my neighbors to run a local community garden.
For me, it was always about working hard to create beautiful spaces and make sure they were accessible to the community. For this labor of love, I was recognized by the State of California for my community service, which still blows my mind. Since then, I’ve moved to the Applegate Valley in Oregon, where I run a commercial hemp farm, Infinite Tree.
How did you get into the industry?
My husband and I wanted to start a business where we could work together, and had always liked the idea of running a small farm. Recreational marijuana had just been legalized in Oregon and we thought it was an amazing opportunity to run a nursery, focused on research and development, to provide farmers with the best plants suited to their needs. Hemp became federally legal in 2018, so it was a natural fit for us to work with hemp.
Why do you love being a grower?
I really enjoy being outside – whether it is a street corner in Manhattan checking out a really interesting tree or walking my dogs on the 30-acre island in the Applegate River that is adjacent to our farm. Gardening is a daily thing I can do outside, and I love to cook and share things with friends and family. I think that really completes it for me; being outside in a way that is productive, a daily practice, that I can share with others by dropping off a jar of tomato sauce or a bouquet of flowers.
What inspired you to launch Grow It From Home?
To be honest, I didn’t think I’d get to work with the gardening community again. I thought it was commercial farming from here on out, and that left a big hole in my heart. In Spring 2020 something amazing happened. Gardeners from all over the U.S. were getting in touch with me, asking if they could grow hemp at home! I realized that the laws in the U.S. were changing, quickly (!) and that there were many states that I could legally share our beautiful hemp plants with gardeners, not just farmers.
How do you incorporate the plant into your daily routine?
Our nursery runs 365 days a year so there is always a hemp plant nearby! I’m not a smoker myself, but I’m always bundling up some to share with friends and family. For my personal use, nothing beats a good infused beverage or dessert, and I like to add the foliage to flower arrangements.
Anything specific you’re excited to share with the Ardent community?
To be a good gardener you have to kill a lot of plants! Don’t worry, hemp is just like growing any other herbs or vegetables, it really is easy, and don’t stress about doing the right or wrong thing.
Is growing hemp at home like growing tomatoes or basil?
Yes! Full sun. Not too much water is needed, and it can grow in a container on a patio. It is so flexible and rewarding as a plant. Maybe you’ve heard how when you grow zucchini, you get, like way more zucchini than you could ever eat? Hemp is the same. You will have so much flower on hand after harvest you will be trying to find creative ways to use it, and giving it away by the jarful. You’ll be shocked at how much one plant can produce, without any special care!
Why are so many people across the U.S. growing hemp at home?
So many reasons! I think bottomline it is why anyone grows any vegetable or herb – because they like it, it has purpose in their life. It’s rewarding to grow something. It is also way cheaper than buying oil or flower at a store! Now add on the fact that it is legal, and it wasn’t before (exciting!), and it provides a huge wellness benefit to many people. You can do so much with the plant. Cook, drink, smoke, juice, infuse with it. It is really versatile, and provides a benefit for many people.
Getting back to the legal and social acceptance aspect of growing at home, we are working hard to provide more awareness and access to gardeners and community groups. James Beard award-winning authors like Johanna Silver are even writing about growing hemp at home and people of all ages, backgrounds, and for so many reasons, are excited to grow hemp at home.
Can you grow hemp in a small space, like on a patio?
Absolutely! You would be shocked at how beautiful and productive hemp is in a small space. I have tons of photos and how-to guide’s on our website. I am passionate about creating gardens that are beautiful and functional, and I know hemp has a place in your garden whether it is part of a small patio or a backyard. It is versatile and resilient, just like gardeners!
Did you tune into our Easily Baked with Ardent series? Thanks for joining us if you did, and if you missed the kickoff, it’s our new, monthly cooking show that teaches our audience beginner-level, from-scratch, infused recipes with the aid of Ardent technology, right on Instagram Live. In our first live webisode, we discussed infusing cannabutter to make Irish soda bread. In case you missed it, let the Saint Patrick’s Day spirit live on all year with this fantastic, long-lasting bread.
Irish soda bread is a yeast-free bread that rises with the help of baking soda. With few ingredients and no wait time for rising, this simple bread makes a delicious, versatile edible that can be eaten over the course of a few meals.
https://vimeo.com/524947134
How to get started
Decarboxylate your cannabis plant material in the Ardent Nova or FX, by running one cycle or by using the A1 setting for THC-rich material and A2 setting for CBD-rich material. Infuse butter into the Nova or FX using the silicone Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve, specific to whichever device you own, or the Ardent Vessel. Strain out the spent material and toss it out or store for future use. If using the FX, attach the Infusion Press to the unit (without the Sleeve or Vessel) to separate the raffinate from the infused butter. Refrigerate until hardened.
A note on dosing: check your flower or concentrate’s label to identify the percentage of THCa in the product you’re decarbing.
Equipment Needed
Ardent Nova or FX
Ardent Vessel (optional, for cannabutter storage)
Mixing bowl and wooden/silicone mixing spoon
Cake pan, pie dish, cast iron skillet, or parchment-lined baking sheet
Ingredients
4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ¾ cup buttermilk
1 egg
3 tablespoons sugar (can also use cannasugar if you have it on hand)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
5 tablespoons cannabutter, refrigerated
Raisins, to taste
Directions
Mix together buttermilk and egg in a bowl and place to the side.
In another bowl, add flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Combine. Mix in the cold butter with your hands until it’s crumbly and well mixed.
Combine wet and dry ingredients together. Add in the raisins.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Knead the dough on a floured surface and place it in an oiled pan.
Cut an X in the top of the dough, per tradition, and allow it to bake for 45 minutes.

Pi, or π, is what’s called a mathematical constant. It’s the number created when you fraction a circle’s circumference by its diameter. This calculation remains true for circles of all sizes! Math aficionados celebrate the day by eating pie (pizza and fruit pies count) and reciting the literally endless numbers of pi. Thanks to all of our math enthusiast community members who reached out with Pi fun facts.
We couldn’t let Pi Day pass us by without doing a little something to celebrate! Try out this Ardent Infused Whoopie Pie recipe to celebrate our New England roots while doing a little math (to measure ingredients) for these CIRCULAR treats!
Plus, you can make Pi flags using toothpicks, paper, markers, and glue, to take these Whoopie Pies to the next level.

How to get started
Begin by decarboxylating 3.14 grams of cannabis in the Ardent Nova or FX, using the A1 setting for THC or CBG-rich material and A2 for CBD-rich material. If you’re using concentrate, consider using .314 grams of wax instead, to make up for the potency! To keep things mess-free and clean inside the device, you can use the Infusion Sleeve or Vessel. You can of course scale up or down as needed, but we love this Pi Day ratio. Once your material is decarboxylated, add a stick or two of butter right on top of the material, and allow it to infuse by running another Nova cycle or by pressing the Infuse setting on the FX. Strain out the spent material using the Infusion Press or a cheesecloth, either saving your raffinate for future use or tossing it in the trash. Refrigerate the infused butter and soften it prior to use in this recipe.
½ cup vegetable or canola oil (this can be infused if you like)
1 egg
1 ½ – 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ cup hot water
Filling
198 grams of cannabutter
2 ¼ cup confectioner’s sugar
Sprinkle of salt
Vanilla, to taste
3 ½ cups marshmallow fluff
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Add flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt to a mixing bowl. Whisk together.
In the mixer, combine brown sugar, buttermilk, oil, egg, and vanilla. Mix.
Add in hot water and mix until well combined.
Allow them to bake for 8 minutes. Cool.
Begin making the filling by combining softened cannabutter and powdered sugar in the mixer on medium speed until thoroughly combined. Add in vanilla extract and keep mixing.
Fold in salt and marshmallow fluff using the spatula. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Agitate the marshmallow fluff mixture and add to a piping bag fitted with the tip of your choice.
Add fluff to one side of the Whoopie Pie and place the top cake top of it. Add Pi Day toothpick flags to each of your whoopies and enjoy!
Biscotti came to be the cookie we know and love today all the way back in Roman times! The word “biscotti” loosely translates to “twice baked,” which, if you’re reading along, will tell you the basis of the recipe. The Ardent version of biscotti, however, is thrice baked, if we include how you feel after eating it.
Biscotti was originally baked twice not for taste preference, but to make the cookies last longer and to prevent molding during long bouts of travel. After the Roman empire fell, biscotti re-emerged in Tuscan, Italy, where it grew in popularity as an accompaniment to red wine.
In Italy today, biscotti may be referred to as cantucci, but in the U.S. we’ve adopted the original Roman name biscotti to describe one of our favorite cookies.
If you want to learn how to make these delicious cookies in a few yummy varieties with an Ardent infused twist, keep reading.
How to get started
First, activate your material (be it cannabis or hemp flower, concentrate, kief, stems, or sugar leaf,) in the Ardent Nova or FX, using the A1 setting for THC-rich material and A2 setting for CBD-rich material. Use the Infusion Sleeve for mess-free cleanup. Toss ¼ cup of butter into your sleeve/unit and allow it to infuse on another Nova cycle or on the Infuse setting in the FX. Strain out the unusable material using a cheesecloth or our Infusion Press. Refrigerate your butter and leave it to the side.
Mix together 2 ¼ cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and a dash of salt in your mixing bowl.
Add in ¼ cup (57 g) of cold, cubed cannabutter to the mix, or cut the dosage by using 1 part cannabutter and another part plain butter.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 eggs, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a teaspoon of anise extract, and a tablespoon of vegetable oil.
Combine the wet and dry mixtures until it looks crumbly. Flour a surface and begin kneading the dough until it’s well combined.
Roll the dough out a bit and divide it in half on two cookie sheets. Allow it to bake for 25 minutes.
Let the biscotti cool for 10 minutes. Then, cut each slab into 1-inch cookies. Flip each piece of biscotti on its side and place it back in the oven for an additional 8 minutes.
Allow the biscotti to cool, and dip each piece of biscotti into melted chocolate wafers. You can infuse your chocolate by adding a small dab of cannabutter or cannabis infused coconut oil to the melted chocolate and giving it a good stir. Allow the chocolate to harden and enjoy!
Passover Biscotti
Ingredients:
1 cup cannasugar
1/2 cup margarine (infused or non-infused)
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/4 cup matzo meal
3 eggs
¼ cup potato starch
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped walnuts
Dark chocolate melts, to taste
How to make Passover Biscotti:
Preheat the oven 350 degrees F.
Mix together sugar, cinnamon, and margarine in a bowl with a rubber spatula.
Crack in eggs, one at a time, mixing them in well.
Add in the dry ingredients and the walnuts.
Add dough to greased baking sheets, and allow your biscotti to cook for 35 minutes.
Dip one end of the biscotti into the chocolate melts and allow it to fully dry on a parchment-lined baking sheet before serving.
Additional variations
Cherry Almond Biscotti – instead of opting for vanilla and anise, replace those extracts in the recipe with cherry and almond extracts. Then, add sliced almonds and dried cherries to the mixture and enjoy some additional added color and texture.
Orange Cranberry Biscotti – Double up on the recipe’s vanilla extract and omit anise for this one. Add some orange zest (or small bits of candied orange peels,) dried cranberries, a dash of cinnamon, clove, and bits of pistachio to make this citrusy biscotti come to life.
Chocolate Espresso Biscotti – Add shaved chocolate chunks, a dash of cocoa powder and some espresso to turn your biscotti into a caffeinated indulgence.

How to get started
Start by decarboxylating your cannabis or hemp material in the Ardent Nova or FX. For stronger doses, consider using a concentrate, as this recipe doesn’t call for much EVOO. Once your material is activated, infuse it into 15 ml of our Citrus Habanero Olive Oil: using a tincture bottle makes it ultra-easy to infuse into sauces of all kinds without getting heavy-handed.
Bentonite clay masks are delightfully cleansing. They absorb dirt and oils on the skin, including sebum, which causes acne.
For those who are new to the wonders of bentonite clay, this volcanic ash has a slew of other benefits too! It’s rich in natural essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, copper, silicon, potassium, and iron, among others. It’s also said to have inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which, when paired with CBD, makes for a perfect nourishing mask to reduce puffiness in the morning or before bed.
Bentonite clay masks can be used as an all-over face mask, as a spot treatment on oily problem areas, or even on the body as a mild exfoliant. While bentonite clay is generally used for oily skin types, our recipe includes nourishing CBD-infused sweet almond oil, which leaves the skin feeling clean, supple, and moisturized.
DIY CBD-Infused Clay Face Mask Recipe
https://vimeo.com/515879347
How to get started
Decarboxylate your cannabis material in the Ardent FX or Nova, using the A1 setting for THC-rich material and A2 setting for CBD-rich material. Infuse your material into an ounce of sweet almond oil by either running another cycle in the Nova (using the Infusion Sleeve to keep things mess-free) or the Infusion setting on the FX. Strain out your spent material from the infused oil using a cheesecloth, coffee filter, or the Ardent Infusion Press.
Using a wooden spoon (it’s very important when working with clay to not use metal as it will affect the ionization and reduce effectiveness,) scoop your bentonite clay into the bowl.
Mix in water until the clay has become a paste.
Add in apple cider vinegar and almond oil. Mix well.
Apply to the face, neck, and chest using your fingertips, avoiding eyebrows, eyes, and the hairline. Allow it to dry and harden for 15-20 minutes.
Rinse off with cool water and pat dry with a towel. Repeat 2-3 times a week or as needed.

Plus, like the FX, the Vessel is dishwasher safe and can be stored in cabinets, on countertops, or in the fridge and freezer. For storage: the Vessel can be used to hold plant material including flower, stems, kief, sugar leaf, and concentrates prior to or after decarboxylation. It can also hold butter, oil, ghee, and alcohol infusions pre or post-strain, or even just raffinate from past infusions.
Lastly, the inconspicuous Vessel can also store finished products like salve, edibles, capsules, and more, without the threat of pests and environmental elements, and keeps infused foods separated from the rest of your kitchen to prevent accidental dosing. Ready to get started? Check out our videos below on how to use the Ardent Vessel to create and store both cannabutter and cannasugar!
