Ultimate Guide to a Cannabis-Infused Thanksgiving

ultimate cannabis infused thanksgiving guide

Thanksgiving means celebrating the things that we hold closest: friends, family, food, and our favorite plant. With each passing Danksgiving, we bring new infused dishes to the table, and it always leads the table’s conversation. Ready to have your food become the centerpiece? Check out our delicious cannabis-infused Thanksgiving recipes and important preparation information below! Before we get into all of that, there are a few things to keep in mind for your infused Thanksgiving.

Weed Thanksgiving Etiquette

First things first, you must always disclose that you’re serving infused food to your guests! Even if you’re just using CBD in the meal, it’s the polite thing to do, and your guests may have personal reasons like poor bodily reactions or job restrictions that keep them from consuming full-spectrum hemp or marijuana products.

Pouring cannabis-infused oil out of the FX

Ideally, food is divided, dosed, and even labeled as accurately as possible. For liquid sides, like cranberry sauce and gravy, consider dosing per spoonful, so your guests can monitor themselves. You should balance the meal with a diverse selection of cannabinoids - maybe a CBG-infused appetizer, a THC-infused entree and some sides, and CBD-infused dessert.

So, who should attend this special Thanksgiving dinner? Cannabis conversations are not as taboo as they’ve been in the past, but they may still be too controversial for certain family members. Consider inviting your inner circle, plus a few other canna-curious friends who won’t feel uncomfortable, and expect an engaging evening. You could always host a “Friendsgiving” as well and enjoy an infused meal there instead of trying to incorporate cannabis with your family members.

Make sure to have your friends arrange an Uber, Lyft, or some type of ride home as well. Or have them stay over for a fun Friendsgiving sleepover!

What to Know About Cooking with Cannabis for Thanksgiving

Cooking with cannabis isn’t too much different than regular ol’ cooking. With the Ardent Nova and FX, you can turn any food into an instant edible by simply sprinkling decarbed herb over top, or mixing it in as you cook. You can infuse cannabis into butter, oils, and fats for a more discreetly flavored dose and for some added bioavailability.

Decarbing Your Cannabis

Decarboxylation is the process of activating your cannabis plant material, and it’s critical to the edible, topical, tincture, capsule, etc. making process. It’s a scientific function of heat and time, and we’ve made it nice and simple. Read our guide to decarboxylation to learn how to do it effortlessly at home.

Decarbing Your Cannabis

How to Measure Your Potency

Ardent technology gets you as close to perfect decarboxylation as possible. With over 97% activation in each decarb cycle, a one gram nugget at 20% THCA converts into roughly 200 mgs of usable THC.

Kief is about 40% stronger, so take that into account when you’re cooking using that medium. When using a concentrate, your wax usually contains over 90% THC, so use caution when portioning things out. We’ve also created this helpful guide for accurately dosing cannabis which should help you get your servings dialed in.

Infused Thanksgiving Leftovers

One of the best parts of Thanksgiving is the leftovers! If you were not able to host or be a part of an infused Thanksgiving, you can infuse your leftovers! One of the easiest ways to do this would be to decarb your hemp or marijuana and then infuse it into butter to make a cannabutter. From there, you can simply add butter to your mashed potatoes, dinner rolls and anything else! Once your weed is decarbed, you can also sprinkle it on top of your turkey, cranberry sauce and any other leftovers you’d like to infuse.
