In Massachusetts, there were 42 state-approved medical marijuana dispensaries already in operation as of October. In the new recreational program, 92 businesses had completed 180 applications for licenses as of Nov. 1. Dozens more businesses are springing up that don’t require a state license — from cannabis real estate company AmeriCann to cannabis extractor company Ardent Cannabis.
