DIY Infused Nerds Ropes and Starbursts

Thanks for tuning into our second episode of Easily Baked with Ardent last week! If you missed the April episode, Easily Baked with Ardent is our new, monthly cooking show that teaches beginner-level, infused recipes with the aid of Ardent technology, right on Instagram Live. In our second live event, we discussed infusing coconut oil to make THC Nerds Ropes (and bites) along with cannabis-infused Starbursts. In case you missed it, celebrate 4/20 all year long with these easy, hackable candies that can be activated to perfection with Ardent.

How to get started

Decarboxylate your cannabis plant material in the Ardent Nova or FX, by running a cycle on the single-button interface, or starting a cycle by using the A1 setting for THC-rich material and A2 setting for CBD-rich material. Infuse your coconut oil into the Nova or FX using the silicone Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve or the Ardent Vessel. Strain out the spent material and toss it out or store for later use. If using the FX, attach the Infusion Press to the unit (without the Sleeve or Vessel) to separate the raffinate from the infused oil, or use a coffee filter, cheesecloth, or the Ardent Frainer.

A note on dosing: check your flower, kief, or concentrate’s label to identify the percentage of THCa in the product you’re activating. In the Nova or FX, which both provide anywhere between 97-100% activation, one gram of starting material at 23% THCa should yield about 200 mgs of edible THC. After removal of the acid molecule, which weighs 13% of your starting material, you’ll multiply the starting percentage by .87% to identify the dose in your finished product. Just move the decimal point one space to the right.

Infused Nerds Rope Equipment
  • Squeeze bottle
  • Potholder
  • Aluminum foil and/or silicone molds (circles, squares, or the shape of your choosing will suffice)
  • Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve
  • Baking sheet
  • Ardent Nova or FXs
Infused Nerds Rope Ingredients
  • Cooking spray
  • 2 10 oz. Boxes of Nerds
  • 2 tablespoons infused coconut oil (dosed to your tolerance)
  • 1 cup Albanese Gummi Bears (Haribo or Black Forest Gummies also works for this recipe)
How to Make Infused Nerds Rope
  1. Preheat the FX on the bake setting, or preheat the Nova using the single button interface.
  2. Fold a large sheet of aluminum foil into an accordion shape. Lightly unravel the foil and place it on a cookie sheet.
  3. Spray each dip with a line of cooking spray, being generous.
  4. Spread Nerds out into each dip of foil, leaving an inch or two on each end uncovered. If using a silicone mold, fill them halfway with Nerds.
  5. Place 1 cup of gummy bears and 2 tablespoons of infused coconut oil inside the Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve. Allow it to meltdown inside the Nova or FX for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Using a potholder, safely remove the Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve from the device and give it a final mix. Pour the gummy mixture into the squeeze bottle.
  7. Squeeze double lines of the gummy mixture on to the line of Nerds or into the gummy molds.
  8. Top the gummy mixture with another layer of Nerds.
  9. Place the ropes or bites in the fridge to set for at least an hour to set. Enjoy!
Starburst Equipment
  • Parchment paper and/or silicone molds (circles, squares, or the shape of your choice will suffice)
  • Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve
  • Rubber spatula
  • Cake scraper
  • Ardent Nova or FX
Starburst Ingredients
  • Ardent Stoner Snack Pack, or the Starburst candy flavors of your choice (50 grams)
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon infused coconut oil (dosed to your tolerance.)
  • Lecithin, if desired
How to Make Infused Starbursts
  1. Preheat the FX on the bake setting, or preheat the Nova using the single button interface.
  2. Place the Starburst and the infused coconut oil inside the Concentrate and Infusion Sleeve and place it inside the warmed unit to melt for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Pour the melted Starburst on a piece of parchment paper, and cover with another sheet of parchment. Form the Starburst mixture into a rectangle or square using the cake scraper on the top piece of parchment. Allow it to set for about an hour. Slice into cubes and enjoy!
