How to Make Cannabis-Infused Cacao Butter (Test Results Inside)

Cacao butter is a delicious and efficient infusion medium for cannabis and hemp! Derived from cacao beans, cacao butter contains plenty of natural, plant-based fat, and is a safe alternative for vegans.

Before you google it, yes, cacao butter and cocoa butter are nearly the same thing! They’re both relatively shelf-stable and can be melted down, but are solid at room temperature. Cocoa butter and cacao butter are suitable for topical applications, too.

We put the Ardent FX to the test for decarb, then cacao butter infusion. Find our shockingly incredible test results below.

Cannabis-Infused Cacao Butter Test Results

We began with THC-rich cannabis decarboxylated inside the Ardent FX on the A1 setting. We tested our decarboxylated material at MCR Labs, and found that after the activation cycle, our one-gram of cannabis tested at 16.26% max THC. So, let’s move the decimal point over one place to the right to determine how many mgs are in our gram of cannabis. Our one-gram nug yielded about 162 mgs of activated THC.

We then placed the decarboxylated herb inside an ounce of cacao butter and allowed it to infuse on the FX’s infuse setting. We also brought the infused cacao butter to MCR Labs to see how many mgs made it inside our infusion! It tested for 157.91 mgs of THC.

A huge quantity of our initial 162 activated mgs have ended up in our infused cacao butter. We can figure out the infusion rate of cacao butter by dividing the 157.9 mgs found in our cacao butter infusion by the 162 mgs that were placed inside it before infusion. Then, move the decimal point over two places to the right.

According to our lab test, cacao butter has an infusion rate of ~97.46%. That's a great infusion rate!

Cacao lover, William Zitser, of CBD chocolate brand Flor de María, shows us one of his favorite applications of cannabis-infused cacao butter made inside the Ardent FX: Maple Cannadrizzle.

William mixes together a 1:1 ratio of cannabis-infused cacao butter and maple syrup, to use as a spread on ice cream, breakfast foods, and chicken tenders.
