How to make cannabis infused DIY mixes

Making this project could not be simpler. Once you decide on a recipe, here’s what you need to do.

  • Use the Ardent FX, Mini or Nova to decarboxylate your cannabis
  • Prepare the cannaflour
  • Gather your jars and the remaining ingredients you need to make the recipe.
  • Layer ingredients into the jars. You could alternately just mix it all together and put it in a jar, but layering different colors and textures will make your DIY mixes more decorative.
  • Add a lid to the jar. Decorate if desired.
  • Add a label and instructions for baking.

It’s that easy to gift your friends with edibles!

Play with the Recipes!

Make DIY mix recipes your own with substitutions and add-ins. Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Experiment with chips! Chocolate chips come in milk, dark, and semi-sweet. You can also get white chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. If you are lucky (or you want to order online) you can even find cinnamon chips, and butterscotch chips. They all have the same consistency, but add different flavor profiles to mix recipes.
  • Instead of chocolate chips, you could use a chef’s knife to create small chocolate chunks for your mixes.
  • Chopped nuts of all kinds make another great addition.
  • Add texture and sweetness with dried fruits like raisins cherries, cranberries, blueberries, etc.
  • Candied citrus rinds make an interesting and flavorful addition.
  • Stirring in shredded sweetened coconut adds moisture, flavor, and texture to the finished baked goods.

Decorating Jar Lids

If you are in a hurry and need to gift your mix fast, here are 4 quick and easy ways to make the jar lids look good:

  • Slap a bow onto the lid and your gift is good to go.
  • If you use regular 2-piece Mason jar lids consisting of a flat lid and ring, put a sheet of decorative gift wrap between the two, or a couple of sheets of colored tissue paper, like we did in the photos.
  • You can also sandwich some decorative fabric between the jar lid and ring. Use pinking shears to cut fabric circles for decorative edges.
  • Plastic reusable canning jar lids are available in a rainbow of colors. These look great, as is, with or without a bow on top.

If you are NOT in a hurry and you are crafty, there are LOTS of other ways to decorate jar lids. In fact, there are entire books on it.

Printable DIY Mix Instructions

You will DEFINITELY want to label your cannabis-infused mixes well and also include instructions on how to use them.

For your convenience, we have prepared some printable instruction tags or labels you can download here. These are formatted 4 to a page and each measure 4” X 5”. Print on paper, cut out, and attach to the jar with a hole punch and ribbon, or use spray adhesive to stick to the jar.

Beyond baking instructions, however, be sure to CLEARLY label that the jar contains cannabis, so there are never any mistakes made. Again, for your convenience, we have some graphics you can print and attach to your gift.

It is also a good idea to include a note on dosing information, so the giftee knows what to expect. Since the dosage in your mix will depend on the strength of the cannabis you use to make your cannaflour, you will need to fill this part in yourself. Learn more about dosing here.
