Should I activate my plant material before I smoke it?
Yes! ArdentActivating your plant material significantly increases the potency of your smoke, which can save you money. Learn more.
Can I really eat ArdentActivated cannabis with no additional steps?

How do I infuse in my NOVA?
Infusing is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

  • Step Two: Open your NOVA and allow it to cool for at least 20 minutes.
  • Step Three: Add oil and plant material to your infusion sleeve and run another cycle.

Learn more.

Can I activate and infuse at the same time?
Unfortunately not. Many of the qualities that make oil great for your skin [link to oil benefits page] make this impossible. For example, oils insulate the plant material from the heat cycles the NOVA uses to activate THC.

We recommend doing it in two separate cycles. Learn more.

What types of cannabis can I activate with the NOVA?
The NOVA can be used to activate any plant material that you have. Flower should be inserted into the unit as whole buds, without grinding, while concentrates (including kief) are best activated in some sort of silicone container. Our Infusion Sleeve is a great way to do this.
How do I decarb concentrates in my NOVA?
We recommend using our infusion sleeve [link to infusion page] to activate your concentrates. If you don’t have an infusion sleeve, a silicone container is a universal solution for any concentrate you have on hand. If you don’t have access to a silicone container, use parchment paper or heat-proof glass instead.
Should I grind my plant material before I run it through a NOVA cycle?
The NOVA™ design maintains a decarb zone with precise, even heat distribution that surrounds and penetrates the buds, so in the plant material there’s no need to disturb the buds prior to decarbing. If it’s a particularly dense nug, you could break it down into a few smaller pieces but no need to crush and disturb trichomes by grinding.
How much or little material can I put in the NOVA?
The NOVA’s sensors can adjust to any amount of plant material you use from less than one joint’s worth to filling the NOVA’s cannister. Never force material into the NOVA, however. ArdentActivation depends upon the ability of hot air to move through the gaps between your plant material. Packing the unit could result in incomplete activation or excessive activation.
How long does an ArdentActivation cycle take?
The NOVA’s dual sensors account for the amount of plant material used. A typical cycle (including time required to cool down) lasts roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. All plant material is different, so you should expect time to vary, even when using similar amounts.
Other methods of activation produce a distinct smell. How much does the NOVA smell as it ArdentActivates?
Unlike other methods, the NOVA produces no noticeable smell. Forget concerns about alerting the neighbors, even someone standing in your kitchen won’t smell anything unusual. If your NOVA isn’t totally smell-proof, check out our [link to how to page] how to videos to ensure you’re closing your NOVA properly.

Safety Questions

Can I use the NOVA outside or in my garage?
The NOVA requires a stable external temperature in order to maintain the consistent temperature that helps the NOVA activate so effectively. We do not recommend using the NOVA in any environment warmer than 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Can I stop the NOVA mid-cycle if I need to?
We recommend running the NOVA through a full cycle every time. However, life happens, and we understand that there are occasions where you may need to cut the cycle short. To stop the NOVA, hold down the power button until the light turns from red to green. Depending on the point in the cycle, you may not be able to turn the NOVA off using the power button. If you still must end the cycle, simply unplug the unit.
Can I infuse into alcohol with my NOVA?
No. Heating alcohol in a sealed environment whose temperature you cannot monitor is not a good idea; we recommend that customers never use alcohol in their NOVA.

Instant we recommend you use ArdentActivated cannabis as it comes directly out of the NOVA. We call this method, Instant Edibles and it’s a great way to eat weed. Learn more about Instant Edibles.

Cannabinoid & Terpene Questions

How does ArdentActivation affect terpene content and structure?
The NOVA™ uses the lowest possible activation temperature for maximum cannabinoid and terpene retention. There are dozens of identified cannabis terpenes with various effects. If you’re interested in isolating a particular terpene/terpene profile, reach out to Support to discuss the temperature range you’re seeking.
Can I use the NOVA to isolate CBN?
CBN is a cannabinoid created when plant material is heated past the ideal temperature for activation. Many cannabis consumers are used to consuming high amounts of CBN. To achieve the same sensation, we recommend running the same dual-cycle process used to activate CBD, then mixing with a 50:50 ratio of raw plant material. This will create a more potent version of the effect the customer is used to achieving.
